DAILY NEWS: When did your business start?
TREES PLUS: Established in 1992.
DN: Why did you decide to open it?
TP: Rob and Amie acquired Trees Plus in March 2005. We were actively looking for a “green” business with potential for growth and one where our talents could be maximized.
DN: What type of products and services do you offer? TP: Trees Plus is a value conscious, knowledgeable, safe and community involved full service tree care and landscaping provider. Our services range from tree planting, tree pruning, tree and stump removal to house calls for sick trees.
DN: What are your claims to being unique in your field?
TP: It is not just what we believe, our customers tell us there is a difference between a tree service and Trees Plus. Here are a few noticeable traits that continue to drive our consistent year over year growth.
DN: What challenges do you face in the current economy?
TP: While the last year has been challenging for our clients, our community and our country, it has provided our business with incredible opportunities for growth. When we acquired Trees Plus in 2005, there were 3 employees and we currently have 10 with plans to add another crew in the coming months. Storm chasers, companies offering unrealistic pricing and the uninsured are not going to make it in this economic environment. The “new normal” is a customer that demands value and quality and that is what we provide. The low hanging fruit is gone. You have got to want it and be willing to work for every customer, every dollar and follow every possible new sales lead. You have to be the one getting up an hour earlier and staying an hour later than the next guy.
